Steven found the desire and passion for lacrosse during the hockey off-season. Steven and his teammates began to extend their hockey season on the lacrosse field. Steven’s approach has always been to focus on teaching the game, fundamental skills, and life-long lessons that can be carried beyond the season. Steven’s coaching philosophy is about giving our athletes the right balance of work ethic, skill development, game knowledge, and respect for the game. He wants his athletes to be the hardest working players or team on the field and always striving to get the best out of themselves regardless of the outcome. Steven looks at coaching as a life-long learning process and is constantly discovering better techniques and methods to help our athletes get to the next level of the game. Steven has and continues to coach youth lacrosse at the Davidsonville Athletic Association.
There is no greater feeling than seeing a player develop and watching a team use the tools you've provided to accomplish their goals. To me, lacrosse is a way of life, it's love, it's respect, and it's a great outlet. Currently, I reside in Bowie, Maryland where my family and I run the Bowie Boys Recreational Lacrosse Program. I have coached for the last six years at every level aside from High School. I loved playing in High School but my passion is helping to grow the sport and the next generation. My favorite quote is from Tucker Durkin-USAMLAX "Coaches want players who are good people first and good lacrosse players second" and it's something I remind my players of, every time we step on the field.
