Tryouts for 2017-2018 Season

We are excited to announce our tryouts for the 2017-2018 Season.

Youth teams will have a year round schedule including 6-8 fall practices and 2 fall tournaments, winter will include an indoor lacrosse league, spring will include club league (as well as you playing for your rec team), and summer will consist of 3-4 summer tournaments in June.  Cost for the year will be close to $1300 (depending on age group) spread throughout 10 months of payments.

High School teams will consist of two fall tournaments (UPLAX and FLG in 3D), as well as 3-4 summer tournaments.  We will assess the level of each of our high school teams and place them in tournaments that are best suited for them.  Prices for the fall and summer will be dictated on the level of each team and the tournaments we put you in.

HIGH SCHOOL:  We will have 4-5 practices in late October, early November to prepare for the two November tournaments.  Then for the summer, we will have practices starting the last week in May.

YOUTH TEAMS:  We will have 6-8 practices leading up to tournaments in November.  We will most likely be practicing at Mitchelville fields (working on field permits now) on an obscure day of the week and time, so as to not interfere with other sports (looking at 8 am on Saturdays).  If you cannot make all of the practices, that's ok, we want you to play your other sports!  Just make as much as you can :-)

What makes Rockfish a different kind of lacrosse club?

Rockfish is a unique club lacrosse program that focuses on growing the player and the person. We’ve assembled a talented group of coaches and players. Most importantly, we have a fantastic family atmosphere where both parents and players enjoy returning to year after year.

Rockfish Values all Player's Time on the field

At Rockfish, we believe players should get equal playing time.  Our team rosters run from 17-21 players, in which everyone will get the same amount of time per position on the field in every game.   We like the philosophy that if everyone pays the same amount of money for membership, everyone should get fair playing time as well!

Our Coaches Love Lacrosse

We offer a coaching staff that knows the game--because they've played the game throughout their lives--at the club, high school and college levels. Each team has two coaches year round, and in the summer, Rockfish alumni that are still playing in college come back to help coach.  Having our college coaches at every level keep the Rockfish family strong!

We’re Affordable! And we offer Multi-Family Discounts

Rockfish won’t break your bank—especially if you have several players with our club. We started Rockfish to offer the experience of great club lacrosse at an affordable price.

Rockfish Scholarship Foundation

For deserving players and families we offer scholarships opportunities for players that work hard on and off the field and who might be going through a financial hardship. It’s our way of giving back since lacrosse has had a major impact in all of our coaches lives.

Growing The Player and The Person

We look to teach our player’s excellent lacrosse skills and the values that will serve them well throughout their lives. It's the same values that college lacrosse coaches are looking for today--and the same values that will serve them well in their professional and personal lives. Most college coaches want to know:

*How do you handle adversity?

*How do you interact with your teammates when things go bad?

*Are you giving "perfect effort" which means never taking a play off?

*Do you dig down deep in the 2nd half when the game is close and you’re legs are burning?

*Are you always striving for "one more" to create offensive and defensive opportunities for your teammates?

*Are you being accountable for your actions both on and off the field?

So, if you're looking for an great club experience at an affordable price with a great family atmosphere that focuses on giving your player more than just great lacrosse skills, Rockfish is for you.

"I just love the positive energy from the the coaching staff at Rockfish--it really does have an impact on our players." Margaret K. Crofton, Md
